Year 10 Work Experience Update Sept 2020
I would like to give you some information and clarification regarding our Work Experience programme for Year 10 students in 2021. Every year we offer students the opportunity to spend one week at a work placement. This experience enables our students to gain first-hand experience of the ‘world of work’ learning many vital skills. However, we appreciate that with current Covid restrictions:
- Some parents/ carers may not be comfortable with their child committing to a work-placement in 2021.
- Obtaining a suitable placement may be more difficult than previous years.
We are therefore, in light if the current climate, making the work-experience week of June 28th – 2nd July 2021 an optional event. We believe that, as long as it is safe to do so, there is still value for pupils in finding a placement and gaining valuable skills during that placement. So, for those Year 10s who want to go ahead we will offer our usual support and guidance including third party Health & Safety checks on potential employers.
We will also be making sure we provide all year 10s with various options regarding alternative virtual work experience opportunities and further activities based on their options and choices when leaving school.
I will be conducting an assembly with Year 10 on Friday to outline this to all pupils and further information will be sent home shortly after.
If you do have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
